Popcorn Garland and 2 More Days to Enter our Give-Away

Hi, just two more days and we'll announce our winner of our 2nd give-away.  So far, we've had 45 followers leave a comment, thank you!  Just click on the Our Give-Away on the sidebar or go to the original post and leave us a comment, remember you must be a follower.

Several years ago, we wanted an old-fashioned Christmas tree at work  and decided it needed a  popcorn garland.  I had seen one years ago, with just popcorn that was dipped in wax. So, I came up with a triple-dipped garland and added cranberry beads.  I also sell these at my shows and they sell extremely well, I have mine packaged in a tin. I have been  using mine over 2 years, this will be the third Christmas my tree will have the popcorn garland on it.

I use Gulf wax, available at Winn Dixie and Micro-wave popcorn.

After the wax is melted, mix popcorn in hot wax, place in a disposable pan and let cool.  Repeat this process two more times. If you don't have a double-boiler, which I don't, you can use a pan filled with a couple of inches of water and an old metal bowl .

I use the cranberry wooden bead garlands, 10 lb. fishing line and a big-eyed needle. I always buy my garlands after Christmas when they are 50 percent off or more.

To start, cut a piece of fishing line, I like to make mine 5 - 6 ft. in length. Tie a bead on the end of the fishing line, I like to add five beads, then five or six pieces of popcorn and so on.  Just thread the needle through the beads and then the popcorn.  The popcorn is still very flexible. When you reach the end, just tie off.

My husband even liked the garland, I had to make one for his tree in his office last year.  I also buy my tins after Christmas, I got most of mine for 25-50 cents each last. year.

If you are ever in the Hilliard, Florida area (it is not far from Jacksonville, FL) you need to go by B & B Crafts-they have a primitive craft shop, it is wonderful.  Mary and I delivered an order to her today and fell in love with her shop.  We plan to go back and do some Christmas shopping soon.  Well, I need to get back to my crafting.  Bye, Cyndy
